WATERLOO - Gary Lee Wilcox, 75, of Waterloo, died Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2014, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home of natural causes.

He was born Feb. 2, 1939, in Waterloo, son of Victor and Eva Morse Wilcox. He married Pauline Gardner on Jan. 13, 1963, in Evansdale.

Gary graduated from Waterloo East High in 1957 and attended Iowa State University, majoring in engineering before transferring to the University of Northern Iowa, graduating in 1962 with a degree in science education. He taught high school math, chemistry and physics in Anita and Farmington for three years before taking a position with Shaeffer Pen Co., Fort Madison. In 1969 he went to work for Chamberlain Manufacturing and in 1991 became the Black Hawk County Solid Waste Management Commission Administrator/Resource Conservation and Recovery Officer, retiring in 2006. He was a founding member of the Turkeyfoot Longrifles.

Survived by his wife; two daughters, Pamela (Dennis) McGary of Overland Park, Kan., and Tamera (Mike) Shaw of Iowa City; a son, Mark (Danica) of Cedar Falls; seven grandchildren; and two brothers, Varrel of Evansdale and Larry (Judy) of Albuquerque, N.M.

Preceded in death by his parents.

Services: 3 p.m. Aug. 23 at St. Mark's Methodist Church, Evansdale, preceded by an hour of visitation.
