WATERLOO - Joe E. McBride Jr., 71, of Waterloo, died Thursday, June 28, 2007, at his home of pulmonary fibrosis.

He was born March 10, 1936, in Des Moines, son of Joe Eugene Sr. and Ruth Emma Lang McBride. He married Gay Pleasant Scroggs on April 27, 1956, in Dubuque.

He was raised in Des Moines and attended Valley High School. He served in the U.S. Army and attended Iowa State University for four years.

Mr. McBride and his wife lived in Lakeland, Fla., for 15 years, then returned to Waterloo in 1998. For 50 years, he was a self-employed management consultant.

Survived by his wife; two sons, Kevin D. (Mary) of Waterloo and Kent (Trish) of Waldorf, Md.; a daughter, Kimmy (Mark) French of Waterloo; seven grandchildren, Noah, Tavi and Isaac French, Joe and Zach McBride and Chelsea and Carsen McBride; and two stepmothers, Dorothy McBride of Norwalk and Enid Price of Wichita, Kan.

Preceded in death by his father, Joe E. McBride Sr.; his mother, Ruth Price; his stepfather, Bob Price; a son, Kyle; and a brother, Jimmy.

Home-going celebration services: 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Waterloo Worship Center. There will be no visitation. Parrott and Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton Family Service, is in charge of arrangements.
