WATERLOO - The Rev. Marvin O. Kannegieter, 74, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, July 3, 2007, at Allen Hospital of natural causes.

He was born June 14, 1933, in Parkersburg, son of Arndt and Angelena Harken Kannegieter. He married Jessie Viola Beasley June 21, 1952, in Nebraska.

The Rev. Kannegieter was pastor at Walnut Street Calvary Church in Waterloo in the 1970s. He then was the pastor at Sunnyside Christian Center in Ocala, Fla., for 25 years, retiring in 1998.

Survived by his wife of the Bartels Home in Waverly; two daughters, Judy Kay (Ronald) Burr of Denver and Mary Ardith (Greg) Boggs of Carrollton, Ga.; seven grandchildren, Elisabeth (John) Cobb, Rebecca Still, Jessica Robyn Burr, Christy (Scott) Kingkade, and Joey, Angel and Emily Boggs; four great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Madison and Christian Kingkade and Jackson Cobb; and two sisters, Pearl Mitchell of La Porte City and Angeline (Kenneth) Palmer of Quasqueton.

Preceded in death by a brother, Cornelius "Bud" Kannegieter.

Services: 2 p.m. Friday at Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball, with burial in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. Public visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday and for an hour before services Friday at the funeral home.
