ELK RUN HEIGHTS - Donald L. George Sr., 73, of Elk Run Heights, died at home Sunday, Oct. 1, 2006.

He was born March 17, 1933, in Iowa City, son of Lee A. and Bernice P. Suiter George. He married Iva Lou Haney on Feb. 19, 1955, in Waterloo. She died May 23, 1987. He then married Lorraine Finn on March 27, 1993, in Evansdale.

Mr. George was employed as a courier with Cedar Valley Medical Specialists. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Army. He also was a member of the Evansdale AMVETS, the Eagles Club and the Moose Lodge.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Donald Jr. (Mary) of Waterloo, Andrew (Evelyn) of Coralville and Tim of Cedar Falls; a daughter, Kathy (Scott) McRoberts of Cedar Falls; a stepson, Jim (Vicki) Finn of Waterloo; a stepdaughter, Colleen Deitrick of Waterloo; nine grandchildren, Amy (Kevin) Kuehl, Tammy (James Sante) George, Allyson, Adam, Nicole, Cassandra and Courtney George, Shane and Kayla Aschbrenner; a great-grandson, Joshua Kuehl; five stepgrandchildren, Kim (Dan) Hibben, Kris (Doug) Aschbrenner, Mark (Ann) Card, Jason (Heather) Card and Laura (Ryan Zook) Hanken; and nine stepgreat-grandchildren, Alexandria, Michael and Joey Card, Justin, Luke and Corey Finn, Shawn and Danielle Hoffman, and Haley Zook.

Preceded in death by a sister, Esther Carpenter; and three brothers, Robert, Bill and Leon.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, with inurnment Friday in Fairview Cemetery, where full military rites will be conducted by the Evansdale AMVETS Post 31 and Waterloo AMVETS Post 19. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, where there will be a 7 p.m. vigil service. Visitation also for an hour before services Thursday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice or the church.
