WATERLOO - Jenetta Mae Powers, 86, of 310 Upland Ave., died Monday, Oct. 2, 2006.

She was born April 22, 1920, in Waterloo, daughter of Roy and Carrie Haddeman. She married E. John Powers on Aug. 11, 1942. He died in 1979.

Mrs. Powers graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1938.

She enjoyed volunteering, crocheting, gardening, playing bingo and dancing. She was a Senior Companion for several years and also was a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary.

Survivors include a sister-in-law, Maureen Haddeman; two sons, John Powers of Denver, Colo., and Ed (Tami) Powers of Cedar Falls; four daughters, Sharon Cunningham, Karla (Rick) McNelly, Pam (Michael) Mann of Las Vegas and Linda (Bruce) Schaffer; many nieces and nephews; 20 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren; and her senior companion, Betty Christensen.

Preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather, Karsten Koch; a brother, Elmer Haddeman; and two grandsons, Michael and Kevin Fetters.

Memorial services: 4 p.m. Wednesday at Countryside Vineyard Church, 3467 Lafayette Road, Evansdale, with inurnment later in Black Hills National Cemetery, South Dakota. Public visitation for an hour before services Wednesday at the church. Her body was cremated.

Memorials may be made to the family.
