WATERLOO - Frank E. McGurn, 79, of Waterloo, died Sunday, Oct. 1, 2006, at Manor Care.

He was born March 7, 1927, in Brooklyn, N.Y., son of Frank and Grace Daniels McGurn. He married Norma Kannegieter in January 1976 in Cedar Falls.

Mr. McGurn was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He started Cooks United on University Avenue in the 1950's and later traveled the country opening other stores for Cooks. He then worked for Palace Clothiers for 15 years, retiring in 1990.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Michael of Waterloo; a daughter, Erin (Ryan) Euchner of Reinbeck; and two grandchildren.

Preceded in death by a sister, Muriel Smith.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Westminster Presbyterian Church, with burial in Waterloo Cemetery. Graveside military rites will be conducted by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball and for an hour before services Wednesday at the church.
