CEDAR FALLS - Arlin W. Dempster, 82, of Cedar Falls, died Friday, Aug. 8, 2014, at Windsor Nursing and Rehab Center.

He was born Aug. 19, 1931, in Earlville, son of William J. and Elizabeth A. Aldrich Dempster. He married Jean Gentz on Aug. 22, 1952.

Arlin earned his BA in industrial arts from the University of Northern Iowa. He farmed and worked as a teacher, salesman and machinist.

Survived by three sons, Gary (Mary) of Garnavillo, Lyle (Darla) of Stout, and Cecil (Bonnie) of Garnavillo; five daughters, Ann (Virgil) Pixler of Cedar Falls, Sharon (Dale) Everts of Cedar Rapids, Alice (Al) Tanner of Waterloo, Bonnie (Keith) Corkery of Fairbank, and Connie (Matt) Gergen of Janesville; 24 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Roger Dempster of Roseville, Calif.

Preceded in death by a son, Bill Dempster; a great-granddaughter; a sister; Edna Hippenhammer; and three brothers, Howard, Ernest and Edwin Dempster.

Graveside Services: 1 p.m. Tuesday at Fairview Cemetery, Cedar Falls. Richardson Funeral Service in is charge of arrangements.
