WATERLOO - Leo Earl Stacey, 91, of Spokane County, Wash., formerly of Waterloo, died at home Thursday, July 31, 2014.

He was born May 2, 1923, in Sac City, son of Robert and Alice Stacey. He was married to his wife, Margaret, for 68 years, and she preceded him in death.

Leo worked for John Deere for 30 years, was a reservist with the Black Hawk County Sheriff's Office, and was a court bailiff after retirement, going to live with his son in Washington in 2002.

Survived by four sons, Jerry (LeDonna) of Spokane, Wash., Dan (Margaret) and Ron (Kathy), both of Helena, Mont., and Randy (Pam) of Waterloo; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a twin brother, Cleo; and two sisters, Verna and Alliene.

Graveside services: were 1 p.m. Saturday at Woodland Cemetery, Deer Park, Wash. Lauer Funeral Home, Deer Park, is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers memorial may be directed to the Wounded Warriors Project.

Leo was a World War II veteran who saw battle action throughout Europe, including Normandy, northern France, the Ardennes Forest and Germany, receiving four Bronze Battle Stars and a Purple Heart. He enjoyed traveling, poking around old dumps and structures with his metal detector and Indian casinos and coin collecting.
