ANDERSON, LeRoy Henry 1928-2014

LeRoy Henry Anderson, 85, of Sun City West, Ariz., former resident of Waterloo and Indianapolis, died Saturday, Aug. 2, 2014, in Glendale, Ariz.

He was born Sept. 22, 1928, in Iowa Falls, to Henry and Severie (Ostrem) Anderson, youngest of seven children. He married Marilyn Mae Lane on Aug. 26, 1950 in Waterloo.

LeRoy graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1946 and Iowa State Teachers College (University of Northern Iowa) in 1955. He was employed by Rath Packing Co. in quality control, researching radiation as a means of preserving meat. In 1967 he moved to Indianapolis where he was quality control manager for John Sexton & Co. until his retirement in 1990. In the 1980s he was named the Mayonnaise Man of the Year. In 1992 he and Marilyn moved to Sun City West where they resided until his death. He was active in his church, Lord of Life Lutheran, and loved to travel. He had visited all 50 states, most of the provinces of Canada, 53 countries and six continents.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his siblings, Arley, John (aka Rube), Esther, Hazel and two girls who died at birth.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; his son, Steven G. Anderson (Carol Kramer) of St. Paul, Minn.; two grandchildren, Christopher MacKenzie-Anderson (Frankie DePew) of St. Paul and Michelle Kramer-Ram (Deonerine Ram) of Richfield, Minn.; and six great-grandchildren, Gavin, Rinoa and Isabella MacKenzie-Anderson, and Tyler, Justin and Evan Kramer-Ram. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be held on Thursday, Aug. 7, at 1 p.m. at Lord of Life Lutheran Church, Sun City West. In lieu of flowers send memorials to the American Heart Association.
