CEDAR FALLS - Barbara B. Nesbit, 70, of Cedar Falls, formerly of Dunkerton, died Monday, July 28, 2014, at home of cancer. She was diagnosed with cholangiocarcinoma in November 2013.

She was born Feb. 11, 1944, in Austinville, daughter of Bruno and Norma Garner Wessels. She married Russell Nesbit Jr. on March 2, 1962, in the Western Avenue Gospel Hall, Waterloo.

Barb was employed by the Dunkerton Community School as a bus driver for 42 years, served as the school nurse for eight years, was an EMT on the Dunkerton Ambulance Service for 26 years, served as a member on the board of the Dunkerton Community Hall, and for the last five years volunteered at Allen Hospital in Waterloo.

Survived by her husband, Russell Nesbit of Cedar Falls; six children, Richard Nesbit of Dunkerton, Rhonda (Brent) Cirksena of Cedar Falls, Randy (Shari) Nesbit of Urbandale, Robi Buhrow of Cedar Falls, Ryan (Melissa) Nesbit of Ankeny and Roxi (Tim) Shaw of Nottawa, Ontario, Canada; 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; three brothers, Duane (Joan) Wessels of Waterloo, Dale (Meredith) Wessels of Clear Lake and Dean (Elaine J.) Wessels of Cedar Falls; two sisters, Beverly (Darrel) Brandt of Cedar Falls and Bonnie Tozer of Casa Grande, Ariz.; one sister-in-law, Elaine Wessels of Muscoda, Wis.; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, Darrell of Blue River, Wis., and Donald, who died in infancy.

Services will be 4:30 p.m. Thursday, July 31, at the Dunkerton High School gymnasium, with burial at Fairview Cemetery, both in Dunkerton. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Dahl-Van Hove- Schoof Funeral Home, Cedar Falls. Memorials may be made to the family.

Please note the highway is closed south of Dunkerton.

Barb received Jesus Christ as her Savior on July 9, 1954, while reading the Bible verse: John 3:16: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” This was the most important event in her life and directed her focus to the end.
