WATERLOO - James “Jim” Edwin Murphy, 59, of Iowa City, formerly of Waterloo, died at home Monday, July 21, 2014 following a brief illness.

He was born April 16, 1955, in Waterloo, son of Edward and Leona Gilbert Murphy.

Mr. Murphy graduated from Columbus High School in 1973. He worked at Waterloo Industries, Waterloo; Boeing Co., Seattle; Rogers Corp., Chandler, Ariz., Proctor and Gamble, Alpla Inc. and Menards, all in Iowa City.

Survived by his mother of Waterloo; four brothers, John of Chandler, Patrick (Beverly) and Joseph (Maria), both of Waterloo, and Michael (Lynn) of Lansing; and a longtime companion, Paula Stewart of Iowa City.

Preceded in death by his father; and a sister-in-law, Debbie Murphy.

There will be no funeral Mass but a memorial Mass for the family will be set at a later date. Arrangements by Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service, Iowa City.
