WATERLOO - Avon D. Bennett, 82, of Brooklyn, formerly of Waterloo, died at her lake home Saturday, July 19, 2014 of leukemia.

She was born May 7, 1932, in Lake Mills, daughter of William O. and Valborg Ellingson Anderson. She married Donald A. Bennett in 1950 in Waterloo; he died June 25, 2003.

She was a member of Tama County FOE Aerie No. 2828 Auxiliary, Waterloo FOE Aerie No. 764 Auxiliary and the Northeast Iowa CB Club.

Survived by three daughters, Deanna (Peter Edgar) Bennett of Canada, Mary (Rick) Foxen of Evansdale and Kathy Bennett of Brooklyn; two sons, Dennis (Karen) of Waterloo and Dwayne (Edna) of Cedar Falls; 14 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her parents; her stepmothers, Doris and Hazel Anderson; a son, Donald Gene; two sisters, Marjorie Underwood and Barbara Jean Anderson; and an infant sibling.

Services: 11 a.m. Monday at Garden View Chapel, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the chapel, with a 7 p.m. FOE Aerie No. 764 service. Visitation also an hour before services Monday at the chapel.
