Evelyn Anna Hellman, 91, formerly of Jesup, died Friday, Oct. 21, 2005, at Buchanan County Health Center, Independence, following a lengthy illness.

She was born Nov. 15, 1913, in Waterloo, daughter of John S. Ames and Anna Goldhagen Ames. She married Stacy John Hellman in June 1932, in Waterloo. He preceded her in death in March 1967.

Mrs. Hellman was a line worker at Rath Packing in Waterloo for 35 years before retirement.

Survived by three daughters, Diana (Edwin) Mac Lennan of Raymond, Joyce (Donald P.) Schares of Jesup and Sally (Gary) Wagner of Dubuque; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Elliot Ames of Dysart.

Preceded in death by two grandchildren; four brothers, Donald, Elmer, Sylvester and Lester Ames; and two sisters, Bernice Wilson and Madaline Ames.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Athanasius Catholic Church, Jesup, with burial in Mount Olivet Catholic Cemetery, Waterloo. Friends may call after 2:30 p.m. Monday at White Funeral Home, Jesup, where there will be a 3 p.m. parish rosary and a 7 p.m. vigil service. Visitation also for an hour before services Tuesday at the church.
