HUDSON - Arnold Joseph Bassett, 93, of Hudson, died Tuesday, July 22, 2014, at Sartori Memorial Hospital, Cedar Falls.

He was born Sept. 23, 1920, in Jamestown, N.D., son of Ernest and Mary Bucholtz Bassett. On May 3, 1940, he married Margaret Elizabeth Therien in Minneapolis; she died in 1999. He later married Arlene Volker on June 3, 2000, in Hudson.

Arnie graduated from North High School. He was a car salesman and later sold cards for American Greeting, retiring in 1982. He was a member of St. Mary of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, Eagle Center.

Survived by his wife; a daughter, Pat Fredin of Maple Grove, Minn.; two sons, Dick (Pat) of Maple Grove, Minn., and Mike (Sheryl) of Eden Prairie, Minn.; four stepsons, Gary ( Mel), Dennis (Cathy) and Curt (Jo) Sivertsen and Jerry (Dena) Volker; two stepdaughters, Jilene (Mike) Regan and Sherilyn (Scott) Kistner; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and a sister, Lorraine Weber of Apple Valley, Minn.

Preceded in death by his parents.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church, Eagle Center, with graveside services at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Thomas Cemetery, Aitkin, Minn. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at French-Hand Funeral Home, Reinbeck, with a 6:30 p.m. Scripture service.

Memorials may be directed to charity of donor's choice.
