HUDSON - Barbara Ann Weber, 78, of Hudson, died Tuesday, July 22, 2014, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home, Waterloo, of cancer.

She was born Dec. 14, 1935, in Eagle Center, daughter of George and Bertha Stohr Schaefer. She married James Ruben Weber on Oct. 18, 1955, in Eagle Center; he died March 1, 1996.

Barb worked in the medical field for several years. The majority of her career was in custodial work at the Knights of Columbus and Hudson Community Schools. For the past seven years she volunteered with Covenant Caravan, driving patients to appointments.

Survived by three sons, Mark of Brandon, John of Hudson and Joel (Tina) of Grundy Center; six daughters, Lorraine “Lori” (George) Glover of Waterloo, Shelly VanWey of Red Lodge, Mont., Stacy (Bob) Pecora of Gloucester, Mass., Elaine Duvall of Walford, Jill (Joe) Rieck of Elk Run Heights and Ann (Tom) Tempus of Independence; 27 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; four brothers, Jim (Bev) Schaefer of Hudson, Carl (Janet) and George (Donna) Schaefer, both of Eagle Center, and John (Sue) Schaefer of La Porte City; and a sister-in-law, Sue Schaefer of Hudson.

Preceded in death by a daughter, Linnette; a sister, Geraldine; two brothers, Bob and Harold; and two sons-in-law, Robert Duvall and Cecil VanWey.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Mary’s of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, with inurnment in St. Mary’s Cemetery, both in Eagle Center. Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, Waterloo, with a 4 p.m. rosary and a 7 p.m. vigil. Visitation also an hour before services Friday at the church.

Memorials may be made to the family.

Barb loved reading, and had a gift for sewing, painting and making crafts. She was an avid bird watcher, and she loved cardinals. Barb will be remembered for her strong faith, love of children and kind spirit. She will be greatly missed by friends and family.
