WATERLOO - Janice Rose Risse, 76, of Waterloo, formerly of Shell Rock and Waverly, died at home Sunday, July 13, 2014.

She was born Feb. 19, 1938, in Bremer County, daughter of William and Bertha Rathe Peters. In June 1956 she married Eugene Risse at the Little Brown Church, Nashua; he preceded her in death.

Janice graduated from Readlyn High School in 1956. She had worked at Rath Packing Co., Waterloo, and was a sales representative for Avon and Stanley Home Products. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Shell Rock.

Survived by three daughters, Dixie (Dennis) Kehoe of Waterloo, Deb (Kerry) Nicolaus of Aplington and Peggy (Gary) Thurm of Zephyrhills, Fla.; a son, Dan (Elaine) of Allison; 16 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Elmer Peters of Tripoli, Elston (Gladys) Peters of Waterloo and Vernon (Verdeen) Peters of Cedar Falls.

Preceded in death by her parents; a son, Larry; a sister, LaVonne Woodring; and five brothers, Leslie, Erwald, Robert, Wilbert and Donald Peters.

Services: 10 a.m. Saturday at Faith Lutheran Church, Shell Rock, with burial in St. Matthew’s Cemetery, Readlyn. Visitation Friday at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Waverly, with family present 4 to 7 p.m. Visitation also an hour before services Saturday at the church.
