WATERLOO - Dorothy Mae Brockway, 85, of Waterloo, died Monday, June 30, 2014, at Veterans Memorial Hospital, Waukon, of natural causes.

She was born Oct. 22, 1928, in Mason City, daughter of Clifford and Lucille Turnbull Swender. She married Walter J. Brockway on March 9, 1952, in Waterloo.

A graduate of Waterloo East High School and Pitze’s Beauty School, Dorothy worked as a beautician for 43 years.

Survived by her husband; a daughter, Joan (Joel) of Waterloo; three grandchildren, Brandon (Lisa), Amanda and Clayton; a brother, Charles (Karolyn) Swender of Evansdale; many nieces, nephews and friends; and her puppy, Elon.

Preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters, Mildred A. Powell and Delores L. Buck.

Services: 11 a.m. Thursday at Kearns Funeral Service Kimball Chapel, preceded by an hour of visitation, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery.

Memorials may be directed the family.

Dorothy and Walter enjoyed their summers in Harper’s Ferry where they were members of the Harper’s Ferry Boosters.
