WATERLOO - Permilla "Pam" Farmer, 91, of Friendship Village, died Saturday, Feb. 28, 2009, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home following a brief illness.

She was born June 29, 1917, in Spencer, daughter of Lewis and Nettie Jinks Lienemann. She married Paul W. Farmer on Sept. 29, 1940, in Spence.

Mrs. Farmer graduated from Spencer High School in 1935 and worked for the Waterloo Community Schools from 1960 to 1974 as a secretary at Waterloo West High School, retiring from the guidance office. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church; a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, also Friendship Village Auxiliary, Elklets and Waterloo Women's Golf Association.

Survived by her husband; two sons, Royce (Kathy) of Pella and Thomas (Karen) of Oelwein; four grandchildren, Paul D. (Melinda) Farmer of Cedar Falls, Catherine (Jesse) White of Charles City, Sara (Dave) Anderson of Johnston and Matthew (Jenna) Farmer of Denver, Colo.; and seven great-grandchildren, Reece, Pierce and Grace Anderson, Braeden and Nolan Farmer, and Andrew and Elise White.

Preceded in death by a brother, Embree Lienemann; and two sisters, Sue Messinger and Lois Ayres.

Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Westminster Presbyterian Church, preceded by private family committal at Waterloo Cemetery. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Locke Funeral Home.

Memorials may be directed to Friendship Village Auxiliary or Cedar Valley Hospice in lieu of flowers.
