CEDAR FALLS - Saul L. Diamond, 90, of Cedar Falls, died Thursday, June 12, 2014, at Western Home Communities Elizabeth E. Martin Health Center.

He was born Oct. 31, 1923, in Cedar Falls, son of Paul and Yetta Baral Diamond. He married Joan Englund on Aug. 14, 1965, in Cedar Falls.

He graduated from Cedar Falls High School, earned his BA from Syracuse University and MA from Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. He was a supervisor with Diamond Brothers Groceries and later operated Diamond Brothers Warehouse, and was associate professor of marketing at the University of Northern Iowa, retiring in 1991. He was past president of the Cedar Falls Rotary Clubs and Cedar Falls Historical Society.

He served on Sartori Foundation Board, Community Foundation, Western Home Development Council, WCF Symphony, and Arts Alive. He received the Mayor’s Volunteer Performance Award, Howard V. Jones Award for Leadership and Philanthropy in the Arts with the UNI Foundation, Quality of Life and Representative Citizen awards with Cedar Falls Chamber of Commerce and Northeast Iowa Philanthropy Award.

Survived by his wife of Cedar Falls; and a sister, Ann Tarrow of Baltimore.

Preceded in death by a sister, Edith Travis.

Celebration of Life will occur later this summer. Richardson Funeral Service is assisting the family.
