John D. Hornstein, age 87, of Cedar Falls, died Wednesday, June 4, 2014, at Sartori Memorial Hospital, Cedar Falls, after a sudden illness.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 9, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, Cedar Rapids, with Deacon Phil Saunders officiating. Visitation will be held 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in John’s name may be directed to the American Heart Association, 3816 Paysphere Circle, Chicago, IL 60674 or the Western Home Foundation, 5102 S. Main St., Cedar Falls, IA 50613.

John is survived by sons John Steven Hornstein of Cedar Falls and Scott A. (Joyce) Hornstein of Huxley; and brothers Eldon and Burton Hornstein, both of Cedar Rapids.
