HUDSON - Barbara Jean Vesely, 80, of Hudson, died at home Friday, June 6, 2014.

She was born Jan. 3, 1934, in West Plains, Mo., daughter of Albert James and Vera Ruth Nelson Weeks. On Dec. 19, 1959, she married Richard Edward Vesely in Davenport.

Barbara worked at the Hudson Herald as a typesetter for 30 years. She was a charter member of St. Timothy Lutheran Church, where she was a member of the Bible Club, women’s group, adult study and taught Sunday School. She also was a member of the Red Hat Society, Ostomy Club and 5 & 1 Stamping Group.

Survived by her husband; a son, Rick of Grand Lake, Colo.; two daughters, Becky (Greg) Tuccio of Broomfield, Colo., and Lori (Vic) Finch of Dorr, Mich.; two grandchildren, Brent (Paula) Tuccio and Jonathon (Natalie) Tuccio; two great-grandchildren, Ashley and Russell Tuccio; a brother, Allen (Geri) Weeks of Independence; two sisters, Beverly (Larry) Lorenzen of Traer and Mary Lou Weeks of Phoenix; and many nieces and nephews.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Timothy Lutheran Church, Hudson, with private inurnment in Hudson Cemetery at a later date. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton Family Service, Waterloo, and for an hour before services Wednesday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the church.

Barbara knitting hundreds of lap robes for VA patients and prayer shawls for many friends and neighbors.
