WATERLOO - Henry Ackerson Jr., 66, of Waterloo, died Thursday, June 5, 2014, at UnityPoint Health-Allen Hospital from complications of pneumonia.

He was born June 26, 1947, in Waterloo, son of Henry James Sr. and Dorothy Mae Mettner Ackerson.

Survived by three sisters, Dorothy Anne Ackerson of Waterloo, Sandra Kaye Rasoumoff of Ozark, Mo., and Linda Diane (Terry) McCord of Santa Ana; nieces and nephews, Lori (Randy), Brian (Karin), Melissa (Jason) and Christopher; a great-niece, Alex; a great-nephew, Cayleb; an aunt, Edna Hane of Onalaska, Wash.; and an uncle, Fred Mettner of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by his grandparents; his parents; twin brother, Howard John; a sister, Susan Kaye; and a nephew, Wade Vickers.

Services: noon Monday at Lighthouse Fellowship, Waterloo, with inurnment in Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date. Visitation from 2 to 4:30 p.m. today at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton Family Service.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

Henry was a vibrant soul who loved bowling, family, Hawkeye football, fishing, camping, shopping and wild action movies! He had a big personality and loved to talk, travel and experience life from the front seat of the roller coaster. Henry belonged to the Angel Club, Bible Study and Coffee Club.
