WATERLOO - Mary Faye Schmitz, 79, of Waterloo, died Monday, Jan. 9, at Windsor Nursing and Rehab, Cedar Falls, of natural causes.

She was born Oct. 24, 1926, in Eagle Center, daughter of Louis J. and Caroline Eva Black Weber. She married Robert E. Schmitz Aug. 11, 1947, in Waterloo. He died July 22, 1989.

Ms. Schmitz farmed with her husband for many years. She was an active member of St. Marys Parish and St. Marys Rosary Society. She also was a member of the Waterloo Mothers Chorus.

Survived by three daughters, Nancy (Dan) Schmitz, Mary Jean (Maynard) Murch and Patricia (Randy) Lichty, all of Waterloo; three sons, Tom (Vicki) of Roland, and Steve (Charlene) and Robert Jr. (Leota), both of Waterloo; 25 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jack (Vera) Weber of Traer and Joe (Connie) Weber of San Francisco; and a sister, Geraldine (Al) Erpelding of Green Castle, Ind.

Preceded in death by an infant son, Joseph; a grandson, Matthew Lichty; and a sister, Louene Baker.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at Queen of Peace School Chapel, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, where there will be a 3 p.m. Catholic Order of ÄForesters rosary and 7 p.m. vigil service, and for an hour before services Friday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Queen of Peace Church or Black Hawk County 4-H.
