WATERLOO - Laurence L. Durnan, 63, of Waterloo, died Sunday, May 25, 2014, at Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo.

He was born Oct. 9, 1950, in Decorah, son of Philip and Lena Sanquist Durnan. He married Nancy Brown in June 1970, and they later divorced.

Laurence graduated from St. Francis de Sales High School, Ossian, in 1968 and attended the University of Northern Iowa. He was employed as a systems analyst with John Deere and Rockwell International.

Survived by a son, Brian (Sara) of New Hartford; a daughter, Andrea (Ira) Fratrik of Cedar Falls; six grandchildren, Ali, Kailey and Montana, and Jocelyn, Julia and Annabeth; a sister, Marilee (Clyde) Jensen of Arizona; and special friend, Gail Pursell-Elliott of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Jerold, Daniel, Thomas and David; and two sisters, Beverly Reeves and Phyllis Marsden.

Traditional Irish Wake: 7 p.m. Friday at Jameson’s Public House, Waterloo, with additional services held later in August. Richardson Funeral Service is assisting the family.
