WATERLOO - William Robert "Bill" McCoy, 59, of Waterloo, died Friday, May 23, 2014, at his mother’s home in Longboat Key, Fla.

Bill was born Feb. 18, 1955, in Waterloo, son of Robert Jackson and Elizabeth Jane Gunkel McCoy. He married Meryl Wersinger, and they later divorced.

Bill graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1973 and attended Miami Dade College. He worked in supply management at Colony Beach Tennis Club, Longboat Key.

Survived by his mother; a sister, Kathy (Tim Hurley) McCoy of Waterloo; a brother, Jackson F. (Gail) of Miami; two nephews, Robert and Michael McCoy; a niece, Shannon McCoy; and special friend, Bobbi Summerall.

Preceded in death by his father; and grandparents, Fred and Ethel Gunkel and Jackson and Marian McCoy

Services: 11 a.m. Friday at St. Edward Catholic Church, with burial in Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Locke Funeral Home is assisting the family.
