John Dwight “Jack” Weber, 91, of Traer, died Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home, Waterloo.

He was born April 14, 1923, in rural Eagle Center, son of Louis and Caroline Eva Black Weber. He married Vera Lou Runyan on Nov. 28, 1946, in Waterloo; she died Nov. 6, 2011.

John was a pipe fitter with John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works for 20 years, retiring in 1986, and also farmed in the Traer area. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and was a member of Knights of Columbus and American Legion.

Survived by: nine sons, Mike (Sharon) of Glen Haven, Wis., Joe (Paula) and Scott (Karla), both of Traer, Van (DeAnn) of Clutier, Nick (Patty) of Garrison, David (June) of Waterloo, Daniel (Lori) of Des Moines, Lonny (Jody) of Belle Plaine and Jon (Tina) of Beaver Dam, Wis.; four daughters, Jennifer (Levi) Mast and Crystal (Richard) Schaefer, both of Waterloo, Carma (Duane) Schmidtke of Fairbank and Cindy Weber-Blair of Bloomington, Minn.; 37 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Connie Weber of San Francisco.

Preceded in death by: two great-granddaughters; a brother, Joe; three sisters, Louene (Mike) Baker, Geraldine (Al) Erpelding and Mary (Robert) Schmitz; and two grandchildren, Nick Irvine and Erica.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, with burial in the church cemetery, both in Traer. Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the church, with a 4 p.m. rosary and a 7 p.m. vigil. Visitation also an hour before services Monday at the church. Full military rites will be conducted by Traer American Legion Post 142 assisted by the U.S. Navy Funeral Honor Guard. Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, Waterloo, is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials: may be directed to the family, Cedar Valley Hospice or the church.
