Marv H. Schlichtmann, 68, of Janesville, died Tuesday, May 27, 2014, at Sartori Memorial Hospital, Cedar Falls.

He was born Nov. 17, 1945, in Mayville, N.D., son of Henry and Orrel Olson Schlichtmann. He married Marjery A. Rowan on June 3, 1967, in Moorhead, Minn., and they later divorced. He married Linda Schneiderman Plew on May 3, 1991, in Cedar Falls.

Marv earned his bachelor and master's degrees from North Dakota State and was employed as an engineer with John Deere PEC.

Survived by his wife; three sons, Daniel (Carrie) Schlichtmann of Gladbrook, Kevin Plew of Boise, Idaho, and Kyle (Darlene) Plew of Mason, Wash.; two daughters, Stephanie (Mark) McCombs and Angela (Trace) Steffen, both of Cedar Falls; 13 grandchildren, Breanna, Autumn and Emma Schlichtmann, Catherine and Danielle McCombs, Emily, Paige and Cade Steffen, and Austin, Alex, Ashley, Aubrey and Olivia Plew; two great-grandchildren, Jedidiah and Ezekiel Plew; a brother, David (Carolyn) of Jefferson City, Mo.; and a sister-in-law, Lorna Schlichtmann of Red Lake Falls, Minn.

Preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Gerald.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at Prairie Lakes Church, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Richardson Funeral Service, Cedar Falls, and for an hour before services Friday at the church.

Memorials, in lieu of flowers may be directed to Valley Lutheran School for technology.
