[Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier, Tuesday, May 27, 2014]

On Sunday, May 25, 2014, Linda Kay Alberts (Meinberg), 69, of Cedar Falls, slipped peacefully into the presence of the Lord surrounded by her family after suffering a vertebral fracture as a result of a fall the day before. She and her husband, Kenneth D. Alberts, had recently marked their 50th wedding anniversary on Dec. 30, 2013, and were planning to celebrate this milestone with their family and many friends on the the day of the accident.

Linda was born on Dec. 30, 1944, in Iowa Falls, to Harold and Marian Meinberg. On Dec. 30, 1963, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Alberts. They welcomed their first son, Todd Kenneth, on Dec. 22, 1964. Nine months later, Linda and Todd were involved in a devastating motor vehicle accident which Todd did not survive and left Linda with multiple lifelong health complications. Kenneth and Linda were blessed with three other children, Troy Kenneth, Trev Kendall and Tamara Kay in the years following the accident.

The Alberts resided in Cedar Falls for most of their married life. In 1998 they moved to Rochelle, Ill., and in retirement, returned to Cedar Falls last year. While in Illinois, they fellowshipped with believers at the New Lenox Gospel Hall and were happy to return to their “home assembly” at the Cedar Falls Gospel Hall upon moving back to Iowa.

Linda was a loving, kind, generous and caring wife, mother, grandmother and friend who was happiest doing the things that would make others happy. She adored her grandchildren and made every effort to be present for any activity in which they were participating. The loss of this very dear and special lady will be keenly felt.

Linda is survived by her husband, Kenneth Alberts of Cedar Falls; her children, Troy (Susan) Alberts and Trev (Angela) Alberts, both of Omaha, Neb., and Tami (Dennis) Palmer of Garnavillo; her grandchildren, Brandon, Josh, Tyler, Haeley, Chase, Asthynne and Breanna Alberts, all of Omaha, and Mason, Taylor, Sierra, Caden and Teagan Palmer, all of Garnavillo; her sister, Marlys Osman of Grundy Center; sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, nephews, nieces, and their families.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Marian Meinberg, brother Gary Meinberg, and son Todd Alberts.

Visitation for Linda Alberts will be held at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, 1825 W. 12th St., Cedar Falls, on Wednesday, May 28, from 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral service will be held at the Cedar Falls Gospel Hall, 1302 Walnut St., Cedar Falls, on Thursday, May 29, at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at the Hitesville Cemetery, Aplington.

“The final heartbeat for the Christian in not the mysterious conclusion to a meaningless existence. It is, rather, the grand beginning to a life with our Saviour that will never end.”
