WATERLOO - Ronald Lee Ohrt, 60, of Waterloo, died Sunday, Sept. 11, 2005, at Covenant Medical Center of cancer

He was born Feb. 23, 1945, in Dubuque, son of Rolland T. and Frances L. Kemp Ohrt. He married Charlene Burm in 1963, in San Diego, Calif., and they were later divorced.

Mr. Ohrt graduated from East Waterloo High School and entered the military in 1962. He retired from the Navy in 1981 as an E-6 P.O. First Class, Dental Technician. He was presently employed with Waterloo Prosthetics as a dental technician.

Ron loved his family, friends and especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed his life by fishing, hunting, bowling, camping, playing pool and playing cards.

Survived by his loving companion of 20 years, Evelyn "Evie" Ostendorf of Waterloo; his parents of Waterloo; a daughter, Kyra Ohrt of Valley Springs, S.D.; six sons, Ted Ohrt of Jacksonville, Fla., Ross Ohrt of Bellevue, Neb., Jeff Ostendorf of Cedar Falls, Mike (Christine) Ostendorf of Cumming, Ga., Tim (Sharon) Ostendorf of Mesa, Ariz., and Greg (Jennifer) Ostendorf of Savannah, Ga.; 12 grandchildren, Jeremy, Amber, Tyler, Sixx, Nathaniel, Darius, Alan, Jamie, Eric, Abigail, Emilie and Elaina; two brothers, Del (Mary) of Waterloo and Randy (Pat) of Fairbank; three sisters, Claudia (Gary) Ohrt of Panama City, Fla., Linda (Jim) Larson of Sedalia, Mo., and Karen (Duane) Morrissey of Waterloo; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Services: 10 a.m. Thursday at the Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, with burial in Engledow Cemetery, Mount Auburn. Military rites will be conducted by U.S. Naval Reserves of Cedar Rapids. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and for an hour before services Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to the family.
