WATERLOO - Benny L. Southworth, 84, of Waterloo, died May 10, 2014, at ManorCare Health Services.

He was born May 2, 1930, in Woodbine, son of Lyle and Alma Smith Southworth. He married Dena Kroeze on July 18, 1954, in Parkersburg; she died June 15, 2012.

Benny worked for Chamberlain Manufacturing Co. for 35 years, retiring in 1992. He served in both the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.

Survived by two sons, Steve (Dana) of Waterloo and Benny T. of Omaha, Neb.; five grandchildren, Katie Southworth, Misty (Jeff) Southworth, Jordan Brooks, Angie (Sean) Young and Dennis (Leasa) Hoffman; four great-grandchildren, Dakota, Logan, Kaylee and Dustin; and a sister, Darlene Smith of Boise, Idaho.

Preceded in death by a son, David S.; three brothers, Clarence, Chester and Earl M. Fouts; and five sisters, Arlo Ross, Lois Pfiefer, Louise McMains, Louella Brown and Bette Molitor.

Graveside services: 1 p.m. Monday at Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation from 3 to 5 p.m. today at Locke Funeral Home.
