Vincent H. Herrmann, 82, of Fredericksburg, died Friday, Jan. 20, 2006, at Sumner Community Memorial Hospital.

He was born Feb. 23, 1923, in Gilbertville, son of John and Elizabeth Delagardelle Herrmann. He married Arlene Fitz April 18, 1945, at St. John's Catholic Church, Waterloo. She died Dec. 1, 2004.

He served in the U.S. Army as a private with the 149th Engineer Combat Battalion and farmed with his wife in the Fredericksburg and Sumner area.

Survived by six sons, Richard and Victor (Becky), both of Fredericksburg, James (Sharon) of New Hampton, Dennis (Jan) of Maynard, Kenneth (Jill) of Waterloo and Michael (Tammy) of Shell Rock; six daughters, Judy (David) Rohwedder and Mardelle (Craig) Mehmen, both of Waverly, Linda (Mike) McDaniel of Sumner, Lynnette (Denny) Miller of Waterloo, Jolene (Alyn) Scroggins of Remus, Mich., and Donna Tietz of Fredericksburg; 36 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Sister Bernadine Mosley of Waterloo and Grace (Jack) Crawford of Chandler, Ariz.

Preceded in death by a son, Jerry; two brothers, Fritz and Arnold; two sisters; Bernadine Herrmann and Louise Youngblut; a granddaughter; and a great-grandson.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Sumner, with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery, Fredericksburg. Friends may visit from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Hugeback & Chenoweth Funeral Home, Fredericksburg, where there will be a 6 p.m. Scripture service, and for an hour before services Tuesday at the church.
