LA PORTE CITY - Virginia Faye Elliott, 88, of La Porte City, died Tuesday, July 17, 2007 at the La Porte City Nursing and Rehab Center from complications of Alzheimer's.

She was born Aug. 29, 1918 in Cedar Falls, daughter of Bert and Beulah Cooper Crummer. Virginia attended La Porte City Schools graduating in 1937. She attended Willamatte College in Salem, Oregon. She married Thomas W. Elliott Jr. on Dec. 7, 1940 at the Little Brown Church, Nashua.

They farmed in RR Geneseo and then moved to Liberty, Mo., in 1957, where she worked as a legal secretary for the Clay County Courthouse for many years until her retirement. Tom Jr. worked at the Kansas City Stockyards during that time as a feeder cattle order buyer until his retirement. As Virginia's health declined, they returned to La Porte City in 2001 where she became a resident of the La Porte City Nursing and Rehab Center.

Survived by her husband Thomas Jr. of La Porte City; three sons, David (Laura) Elliott of Chino Valley, Ariz., Thomas W. III (Marsha) Elliott of Fullerton, Calif., and Mark P. Elliott of Holt, Mo.; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

Preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Paul Crummer.

Memorial services: will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 20, 2007 at St. Paul United Methodist Church, La Porte City, with inurnment in West View Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church.

A memorial fund will be established at a later date.
