Marlys A. Saylor, 91, of Grundy Center, formerly of Mallard Point, Cedar Falls, died Sunday, Sept. 4, 2005, at Grundy County Memorial Hospital, Grundy Center.

She was born June 16, 1914, on a farm in rural Grundy County, daughter of Peter and Henrietta Cook Petersen. In 1937 she married Melvin William Simonsen at her family home in Orange Township. He died in 1966. In 1968 she married John Finlay. He died in 1979. In 1995 she married Frank Clement Saylor. He died in December 2004.

Mrs. Saylor graduated from Orange Township High School and had been a farm wife.

Survivors include a daughter, Kay (Paul) Graham of Grundy Center; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Floyd Davis of Richardson, Texas; and a daughter-in-law, Judy Simonsen of Austin, Texas.

Preceded in death by a son, Jack Simonsen; and a sister, Elizabeth Davis.

Memorial services: 11 a.m. Thursday at First Presbyterian Church, Reinbeck. Her body was cremated. French-Hand Funeral Home, Reinbeck, is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice or the church.
