WATERLOO - Dorothy C. Wendt, 88, of Waterloo, died Saturday, May 10, 2014, at Lakeview Landing of Friendship Village.

She was born Feb. 2, 1926, in Cedar Falls, daughter of David and Maude Goocher Phillips. She married Donald Wendt on March 18, 1951, in Cedar Falls; he died Oct. 27, 2012

Dorothy graduated from Cresco High School, Iowa State Teachers College and received her master’s degree in music from Northwestern University. She taught music at Price Lab, Cedar Falls, and gave Suzuki violin lessons. She played the oboe and English horn in the Atlanta Symphony.

Survived by three daughters, Olive Wendt of California, and Carol Wendt and Kathryn (Michael) Tolliver, both of Virginia; and a grandson, Zebulon Wendt of Virginia.

Preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, John Thomas; and a brother, Donald Phillips.

Memorial services: 2 p.m. Wednesday at Kearns Funeral Service Kimball Chapel.

Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Dorothy was an avid musician, artist and poet.
