WATERLOO - Albert L. Henkle, 82, of Waterloo, died Monday, May 5, 2014, at Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center, Chula Vista, Calif.

He was born July 27, 1931, in Waterloo, son of Jake T. and Mary Ruth Hay Henkle. He married Tomiko Shibata April 19, 1961, in Waterloo.

Albert was employed with John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works, retiring in 1992. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

Survived by his wife; three daughters, Caroline (Tim) Koon of Williamsburg, Maria (Gerard) Bryan of Canada and Sonya (Doug) Upah of East Amana; two sons, Jake (Ann) of Iowa City and Roy (Susan) of Chula Vista; 16 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Charles (Margaret) of Waterloo and Richard (Connie) of Evansdale; and two sisters, Zelda (Paul) Dinnibier and Evelyn Gautney, both of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by two brothers, Edward and Ivan; and two sisters, Mary DeVoogd and Frances VanGorder.

Services: 11 a.m. Monday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, where there will be a 7 p.m. rosary. Visitation will continue for an hour before services Monday at the funeral home.
