CLUTIER - Gary "Cupcakes" Kupka, 64, of Clutier, died at home Tuesday, June 23, 2009, after a sudden illness.

He was born April 2, 1945, in Waterloo, son of William and Eleanor Posusta Kupka. He married Patti Morrison on Jan. 7, 1967, in Traer, and they later divorced.

Mr. Kupka graduated from North Tama in 1963, then served in the U.S. Army. He was employed at John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works from 1966 to 1995, when he retired. He operated a backhoe business and operated the Decoy Lounge, Clutier.

Survived by three daughters, Chris Kupka of Belle Plaine, Sue (Paul) Posekany of Brooklyn and Val Kupka of Clutier; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; his mother of Toledo; a sister, Betty (Ron) Wagner of Marshalltown; and four brothers, Don (Nancy) and Duane, both of Elberon, Steve (Deb) of Clutier and Michael (Tracy) of Manchester.

Preceded in death by an infant sister, Mary.

Services: 10 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with burial in St. Wenceslaus Cemetery, both in Clutier. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Overton Funeral Home, Traer.

Memorials may be directed to the family.
