WATERLOO - John T. Harvey, 67, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, June 7, 2005, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home from complications of lung cancer.

He was born Aug. 12, 1937, in Minot, N.D., son of Bertram and Margaret Daeley Harvey. He married Joan M. Myers on June 9, 1962, in Cedar Falls. She died May 21, 1999. He married Joan Craig on June 24, 2000, in Waterloo.

Mr. Harvey was a sales representative for H&H Food Service for 18 years, retiring in 2001. He was an active member of St. Edward Catholic Church, serving on the Social Concerns Committee, with the RCIA program, and as a eucharistic minister, lector and sacristan. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a 15-year heart transplant survivor.

Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Martha (Eric) Yonke of Stevens Point, Wis., Laura (Tom) Boylan of Evanston, Ill., Sarah (Aundra) Meeks of Waterloo and Jennifer (Al) Venz of Farmington, Minn.; four stepchildren, Joe Craig and Jennifer (Kyle) Ahles, both of Waterloo, Terri (Kevin) Saville of Minnetrista, Minn., and Tim (Amada) Craig of Middletown, Del.; 10 grandchildren, John and Alice Yonke, Emily, Zachary and Nell Boylan, Alexia, Alayna and Averie Meeks, Taylor and Parker Venz; three stepgrandchildren, Talia and Abbey Saville and Robert Ahles; a brother, Patrick (Mary) Harvey of Santa Fe, N.M.; and a sister, Jean (Hersch) Dunham of Rolla, Mo.

Preceded in death by: his parents; and a sister, Joan Young.

Services: 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Edward Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. Friday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, where there will be a 7 p.m. vigil service. Visitation also for an hour before services Saturday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to St. Edwards Social Concerns Committee or Cedar Valley Hospice.
