At his home three miles southeast of this city, Solomon F. Knapp, aged 79 years, passed away at 7:30 Sunday evening. He was born in Mayfield, N. Y., Jan. 12, 1829, coming to this city in 1855 with his parents. He moved into Waterloo Township in 1803, where ho has since resided.

Mr. Knapp was a sincere Christian of the Baptist denomination and was one of the founders of the Baptist church in this city and at Waterloo. It is said of him that he practiced what he preached.

His wife died eight years ago and one son and two daughters survive, Frank F. Knapp of Waterloo, Mrs. Marion S. Wescott of Waterloo, and Mrs. Harriet Cox, who resided with her father.

The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon at the Baptist church in this city. Rev. E. B. Jones officiating. The burial was at Greenwood Cemetery.
