WATERLOO - Alice E. Rekers, 98, of Waterloo, died Monday, May 5, 2014, at Covenant Medical Center of natural causes.

She was born Aug. 27, 1915, in Dunkerton, daughter of William and Mattie Snodgrass Nesbit. She married Victor B. Rekers on Dec. 24, 1937, in Waterloo. He preceded her in death on Feb. 19, 2000.

Mrs. Rekers was employed by the Morris Printing Co. for 14 years and was an Avon representative for over 30 years. She was a volunteer for the American Red Cross and active in her church, Bethany Bible Chapel, where she was a charter member.

Survived by a son, Robert (Sonja) of Pleasant Valley; a daughter, Vicki Ann (Larry) Folkers of Luana; two grandchildren, Angela Rekers of Llandeilo, Wales, and Jason (Kristy) Rekers of Iowa City; and three great-grandchildren, Seren Power and Jack and Owen Rekers.

Preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Russell Nesbit; three sisters, Leona Day, Dorothy Miller and Nellie Lumbus; and a great-granddaughter, Willow Power.

Services: 11 a.m. Friday at Bethany Bible Chapel, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Visitation will be 9:30 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the church or Friendship Village.
