WATERLOO - Kenn M. Koontz, 75, died Sunday, May 4, 2014, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home.

He was born Dec. 2, 1938, in Waterloo, son of Charles W. and Hazel M. Kahn Koontz. He married Carol Engelkes in May 1965. They were later divorced. Kenn married Shirley A. Grimm on Oct. 12, 1985, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. She preceded him in death on July 17, 1993.

Kenn graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1957. He worked for John Deere & Co. primarily in the office services department and retired from the purchasing department on May 30, 1986, after 27 years of service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.

Survived by two brothers, Charles (Jeanne) of Waterloo and John (Melody Brindle) of Cedar Falls; two nieces, Dianne and Allison; and three nephews, Dave, Darin and Jay; and a special friend, Marlys Erickson of Lee’s Summit, Mo.

Preceded in death by his parents.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Kearns Funeral Service Kimball Chapel, with burial with full military honors in Dysart Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today and an hour before services Wednesday at the funeral home.
