WATERLOO - William R. Morrison, 79, of Waterloo, died at his home in his sleep on Thursday, July 27, 2006.

He was born Feb. 26, 1927, in Newton, Iowa. He was the son of Carl and Axa Morrison of Newton.

He attended school in rural Newton. When he was 17 he enlisted in the Navy, where he served time in Pearl Harbor. He was a truck driver for ASPRO, where he retired from in 2003.

He is survived by Dolores Morrison of Waterloo; one son, Raymond L. Collins of Peyton, Colo.; three daughters, Patti Miller of Elkhart, Ind., Theresa M. Brown of Waterloo, Melody M. Collins of Cedar Falls, and Rebecca; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Carl Morrison; his mother, Axa Morrison; three sisters, Betty Morrison, Phylis Weaver and Bonnie Bender; a brother, Paul Morrison; and two grandchildren, Brad and Brice Collins.

Memorials may be directed to family.

Graveside services at Memorial Cemetery in Newton, Iowa, at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 12, 2006.
