WATERLOO - William E. "Bill" Curry, 76, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Waterloo, died at home Tuesday, April 29.

He was born Oct. 24, 1937, in Monmouth, Ill., son of George and Pauline Shook Curry. He married Donna Leet Stambaugh on May 29, 1969. She preceded him in death in 1995. On Sept. 28, 2001, he married Doreen “Sue” Thompson in Cedar Rapids.

He entered the U.S. Army and served in Germany during the Berlin Conflict. Bill worked at the Coca-Cola Bottling Co. and then at Klawitter Distributing, both in Waterloo. He moved to Florida in 1986 and was a driver for IBC International Bakery, and continued his 18 year employment with IBC after moving to Kansas, retiring at the age of 62. He also was a Cedar Rapids school bus driver for 10 years. He was a former member of the Knights of Columbus.

Survived by his wife; his children, Debbie Dee Rodden of Mesa, Ariz., Cindee (Jerry) Tharp of Colorado Springs, Colo., Tom Curry of Oxford, Wis., Jenny (Thom) Noone of Sedgwick, Kan., Debbie Stambaugh, Sherry Stambaugh and Mike Stambaugh, all of Waterloo, Lorie Rodden of West Palm Beach, Fla., Chris (Lori) Curry of Evansdale, Mark (Lisa) Thompson of Meridian, Idaho, Tom Thompson of Hiawatha, Susan Thompson and Scott (Julie) Thompson, all of Cedar Rapids; 10 grandchildren; and three sisters, Sandy (Al) McEnany of Litchfield Park, Ariz., Gloria (Denny) Cargin of Cedar Rapids and Kathy (Jim) Gusta of Marion.

Preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Pat Hubbard and Caroline O’Donnell.

Graveside services: 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be directed in his name to Hospice of Mercy, 315 18th Ave., Hiawatha 52233.

Bill loved to bowl, to feed and watch birds and grill the best barbecue chicken and ribs. He shared his sense of humor with everyone he knew.
