WATERLOO - Kathleen Anne "Katie" Shimp, 73, of Waterloo, died Friday, Aug. 4, at Allen Hospital of natural causes.

She was born Aug. 28, 1932, in Waterloo, daughter of Walter M. and Loretta M. Potter Webber. She married Jack "John" Shimp June 26, 1954, in Waterloo.

She graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1950 and was employed with area law firms as a legal secretary. She also was organist with St. Francis Catholic Church Barclay.

Survived by her husband; two sons, Rodney (Cheryl) of Waterloo and David of Chicago; a daughter, Niki (Jim) Maas of Waterloo; four grandsons, Christopher and Joshua Shimp and Nicholas and Jonathan Maas; two stepgrandchildren, Marisa and Patrick Maas; two brothers, her twin, Robert (Claudette) Webber of Sturgis, Mich., and Richard (Mary Anne) Webber of Des Moines; and two sisters, Marilyn (Bill) Bascom of Cedar Rapids and Clarece (James) Wanderscheid of Dallas.

Preceded in death by her parents.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Francis Catholic Church, Barclay, with burial at 1 p.m. in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Waterloo. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, where there will be a 7 p.m. vigil service. Visitation also for an hour before services Monday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the church or Columbus High School.
