GILBERTVILLE - Bernice Fischels Van Nice, 78, of Monticello, Ky., formerly of Gilbertville, died at home Saturday, June 17, 2006.

She was born Nov. 4, 1927, in Gilbertville, daughter of Andrew J. and Stella Bovy Fischels. She married James Van Nice on April 9, 1947.

Survivors include her husband; eight sons, David (Carol), Thomas (Sandra), Robert (Cyndi), James (Kaye), Daniel (Alma), Michael (Rozanne), Patrick (Judy) and John (Sherry); three daughters, Mary Jo (Ray) Ruiz, Sue (John) Belt and Theresa (Donald) Knott; 23 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; and eight brothers and sisters.

Preceded in death by a child; and two siblings.

Services were 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Monticello. Marvin S. Hicks Funeral Home, Monticello, was in charge of the arrangements.
