CEDAR FALLS - Shirley Louise Riedel Vikan Cahill, 67, of Glenbrook, Nev., formerly of Cedar Falls, died Wednesday, May 10, 2006, of breast cancer at her home in Burmuda Dunes, Calif.

She was born May 28, 1938, in Cedar Falls, daughter of Frank and Alice Roberts Riedel. She was married to William C. Cahill.

She attended St. Patrick Grade School, Teachers College High School, and two years at Iowa State Teachers College, all in Cedar Falls.

Survived by her husband, Bill; a son, Curtis (Cynthia) Vikan of San Clemente, Calif.; a daughter, Lynne (John) Prastka of Reno, Nev.; four sisters, Delores Krogh, Frances Putnam and Margaret (Larry) Althof, all of Cedar Falls, and Mary (Richard) Fair of Denver, Colo.; seven stepsons, Kevin, Burke, Michael, Terry, William, Tim and Pat; two stepdaughters, Erin and Casey; 17 grandchildren; and eight nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her parents.

Services: 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Eighth and Washington streets, Cedar Falls. Public visitation for an hour before services Saturday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to Breast Cancer Care and Research Fund, 12400 Wilshire Blvd., Suite 200, Los Angeles, CA 90025, in lieu of flowers.
