RAYMOND - Delores M. McCool, 78, of Dyersville, formerly of Raymond and Waterloo, died Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2006, at her home of complications from a long illness.

She was born July 28, 1928, in Waterloo, daughter of Harvey and Blossom Colvin Turner. She married Edward T. McCool April 3, 1948, at St. John's Catholic Church, Waterloo. He died April 11, 2001.

She graduated from West High School in 1946 and worked for Rath Packing Co. in the canning department until 1966. She then worked for Waterloo Schools, retiring in 1993.

Mrs. McCool was a former member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Raymond and currently a member of St. Francis Xavier Basilica in Dyersville. She was a foster grandparent at Drexler Elementary School in Farley and volunteered at Dyersville Mercy Hospital.

Survived by four sons, Thomas (Mely) of Port Orchard, Wash., Kevin of Avon, Colo., Michael (Robin) of Colesburg and Patrick of Waterloo; a daughter, Leah McCool of Dyersville; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Darlene Nagel of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a great-grandson, Coby John McCool.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at Locke Funeral Home, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
