CEDAR FALLS - Lorraine M. Schmidt, 76, of Cedar Falls, died Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2006, at Allen Hospital, Waterloo.

She was born Feb. 5, 1930, in Cedar Falls, daughter of C. Leonard and Nettie Krogh Hanson. She married Johnny R. Schmidt Nov. 23, 1951, in Cedar Falls.

She worked as a nurse in obstetrics at Sartori Memorial Hospital and St. Francis Hospital, retiring in 1982.

Survived by her husband; four daughters, Linda (Norm) Weitzel of Ames, Nancy (Ken) Crandell of Des Moines, Barbara (Dave) Blough of Lafayette, Colo., and Debra (Tom) Hauskins of Marion; 13 grandchildren; and three sisters, Thelma Kamienski of Tampa, Fla., Audrey (Bob) Thoms of Marshalltown and Julie (Leon) Pipho of Penny Farms, Fla.

Preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey John.

Memorial services: 9 a.m. Saturday at Nazareth Lutheran Church, with inurnment in Fredsville Lutheran Church. There will be no visitation. Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to the church.
