DUNKERTON - Miriam L. "Micky" Brustkern Rand, 68, of Dunkerton, formerly of Jesup, died Monday, July 31, 2006, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home.
She was born May 23, 1938, in Waterloo, daughter of William J. "Bus" and Gladys C. Bedard Brustkern. She married Don Reuter, and they were later divorced. She then married Gordon Stapleton, and they were later divorced. She then married Lester Rand, and they were later divorced.
She graduated from Sacred Heart High School, Waterloo, and had been employed at Rath Packing Co., Beef Products Inc., and also owned and operated L & M Tap, Waterloo, and Micky's Cafe, Jesup.
Survived by two sons, Donny Reuter of Mason City and Gary (Patty) Reuter of Manly; three daughters, Brenda (Jeff) Wendling of Rochelle, Ill., Sue Stapleton of Waterloo and Kathy Stapleton (Richard Schildwachter) of Paso Robles, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; three brothers, Derwin (Judy) Brustkern of Washington, Ind., William (Sheryl) Brustkern of Denver and John Brustkern of Waterloo; and three sisters, Beatrice "Chris" Brustkern of Washburn, Mary Ann (Don) Pierce of Waterloo and Patricia (Kenny) Frost of Hudson.
Preceded in death by a granddaughter; three brothers, Cleo, Richard and Joe Brustkern; and a sister, Donna Mae Fry.
Services: 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Athanasius Catholic Church, Jesup, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery*, Waterloo. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Parrott and Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton Family Service, Waterloo, where there will be a 6:30 p.m. vigil service, and for an hour before services Thursday at the church.
Memorials may be directed to the family.

Lester H. 1935- and Miriam L. 1938-Perhaps the gravestone was purchased while still married to Lester but abandoned the idea in later years. Her parents are buired at Mt. Olivet.
