SESSIONS, BATCHELLER, SLEEPER, NEELY

[Cedar Falls Globe, Thursday, August 20, 1908, Cedar Falls, Iowa]

Col. Fitzroy Sessions, for many years a resident of Cedar Falls, died in the hospital at Independence at 6:30 last Thursday evening, at the age of 78 years.

Col. Sessions was an adjutant in the Third Iowa infantry, going to the front in 1861 and serving a year and a half. In Cedar Falls he has served many public positions of trust with honor.

His wife died in this city many years ago. He was a first cousin of Miss Clara Barton, of Red Cross fame.

In Aug. 1905 the Col. went to the Soldiers' Home at Marshalltown, where he remained for several months, but owing to age and infirmities his mind became weakened and he was, taken to the hospital at Independence.

The body was brought to the Dahl Undertaking Parlors, where the funeral was held Sunday afternoon in charge of the James Brownell post, G. A. R., of which he was a member. The burial being in Fairview Cemetery. [Cedar Falls]
