HUDSON - Thomas E. “Tom” Kerr Sr., 71, of Hudson, died Sunday, April 27, 2014, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home of natural causes.

He was born Sept. 6, 1942, in Waterloo, son of Elston S. and Mary E. Lighthart Kerr. He married Jill E. Crawford on June 22, 1963, in Waterloo.

Mr. Kerr was employed by John Deere & Co. for 36 years, retiring in 2002. He was a member of UAW Local 838, a member of the Mustang Club and was a volunteer for the Democratic Party.

Survived by his wife; three sons, Thomas E. Jr. (Lynnette) of Waterloo, Daniel J. (Rebecca) of DeWitt and Timothy R. of Clontarf, Minn.; a brother, Robert L. (Susan) of Plano, Texas; a sister, Patricia Lou Hastings of Cedar Rapids; nine grandchildren, Kayla (Nicholas Sturtz) Kerr, Emily Kerr, Kendra Lawson, Tabby Lawson, Beth Neuhaus, Anna Neuhaus, and Spencer, Sydney and Isabelle Kerr; and a great-granddaughter, Angel Lawson.

Preceded in death by his parents.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Kearns Funeral Service Kimball Chapel, with burial in Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and for an hour before services Saturday at the funeral home.
